Celebrate Summer in Portland with the mystical ceremony of the whirling dervishes.
Rumi was the original whirling dervish and is widely known for his remarkable and timeless poetry. Yet the Mevlevi tradition is alive Portland today! Sema is a powerful ritual of music, song and synchronized movement that embodies the journey of the soul, weaving these elements into an experiential engagement with the Divine. The Mevlevi Orchestra will accompany the ceremony with authentic classical Turkish Sema music. We invite you to participate with us in this practice of deep listening, become filled with the energy of blessing and create a space of healing for all of creation.
